February’s here, and with it 2G’s preparation for the All-School Gathering (March 5th, 9am on Zoom!)
OMG — 2G is EXCITED!
Today, students learned how to carry worship streamers SAFELY.
What seems simple to an adult… carry the streamer “vertically” or “straight up and down” to protect each other’s eyes is not always so simple for a 7 or 8 year old.
And if “keeping the point above Mr. Gibson’s eye level” can be remembered for 1-2 minutes…
Can it be remembered 5 minutes later?
Or when stairs to the stage need navigating?
Or when the streamers get tangled and you want to untangle them now?
On the plus side, everyone seemed to get the message that streamers are NOT swords, lightsabers or spears! And no one was ever in any danger! (Yeah!)
Ideas are flowing too:
We can’t do our annual Viking Raid — so why not have a skit with Vikings, maybe teaching Vikings kindness? (This is a done deal!)
When practicing our R-E-S-P-E-C-T song today*, one student suggested that we write a new “kindness” verse. (Definitely!)
2G’s playground restaurant is the best any 2G class has ever created, so we thought a “cooking” skit might be in order. Then, when a student mentioned she had a “real chef’s hat” at home the ideas for props started flowing!
And the list goes on!
While COVID may force us to abandon past All-School Gathering processes, it’s also pushing us to be creative.
Stay tuned for (hopefully daily) updates!
Per our COVID protocols (for under 10s), we can sing outside with enough distance between singers. Today, students only sang in their 3-station rotation groups, so only 4-5 students at a time.
