2G 2020-2021 produced the most artistic armor, shield and swords ever!
Ordinarily, we create our costumes and props in about 90 minutes, from 8a until 9:30a. we do so in 100% secret.
Then, at about 9:35a or thereabout 2G begins raiding, with 5G getting the surprise attack while other targets — classrooms, the Art room, even Administration — knowing and dreading that The End is nigh.
While COVID-19 put an end to on-campus raiding…
… we made delicious, spicy lemonade out of lemons.
We took a little longer creating — a move that paid huge artistic dividends
We planned: breast/back plates first, then helmets, shields—swords last
We insisted on “no blank spaces” on breastplates, back plates and shields
We invited Ms. Kim (awesome, beloved Art teacher extraordinaire) to be part of the creative process — and she brought her tempura sticks! (Wow!)
Next week we will start videotaping our All-School Gathering skits and our Vikings, dark shirts beneath armor, will look fabulous!
Ordinarily we have few photos from the armory — we’re far too busy cutting cardboard, stapling helmets, finding art supplies — and we thought it was the same this year.
