  • 10 minutes only!

  • Notice at least three things that “pop out” for you.

 ◼︎ 5 minutes — Copy introductory paragraph

  • Copy the 52-word introduction paragraph below into your exercise book.

The Amazing Generation is a graphic novel about having fun and freedom in our screen-filled world. It was written by Jonathan Haidt and Catherine Price. It is very colorful. I took just ten minutes to flip through the book. The book is full of information! Three big ideas jumped out for me.

 ◼︎ 10 minutes — Big idea #1

  • Write a paragraph about one of the Big Ideas that you noticed.

  • If you found seven Big Ideas, just choose one of them.

  • Your paragraph should be 50-75 words long.

 ◼︎ 10 minutes — Big idea #2

  • Write a paragraph about another of the Big Ideas that jumped out for you.

  • Again, your paragraph should be 50-75 words long.

 ◼︎ 10 minutes — Big idea #3

  • Write a paragraph about one more of the Big Ideas that caught your attention.

  • As before, your paragraph should be 50-75 words long.

 ◼︎ 5 minutes — Copy concluding paragraph

  • Copy the 55-word concluding paragraph below into your exercise book.

There is so much information in The Amazing Generation! I flipped through the graphic novel for about ten minutes. Three Big Ideas jumped out at me. I wrote about them as best I could. I do wonder what more I will learn as we read the book from cover to cover. Only time will tell!

A+ BONUS: Add a fourth Big Idea paragraph after the conclusion. Don’t worry about its position on the page! You don’t need to change “three” to “four” in your earlier paragraphs. Your paragraph should be at least 50 words in length.
