4-Station Rotation: Phonics Station
(25 minutes)

These videos show the 2G phonics lesson review process in action with real students!

Students go over their lesson one-on-on with you before working on the lesson independently.

In a nutshell:

  • Check students knows the phonics lesson (top of page)

  • With word lists: read every other word — when you read student gets a “cognitive break”

  • With single sentence tasks: read every other sentence — student gets “cognitive break” and you are modeling fluent reading

  • With two-sentence tasks: you read 2 sentences, then have the student read 2 sentence

  • Stop to review, provide a mini-lesson, etc. as needed, at any time

Once students get the process, it flows.

If a sub later works with students, students can tell the sub what to do!
