Day 2!

BRAIN GEARS

And another marvelous day, windy though it was!

After Morning Circle — a review of the way we do things in 2G, the 7 continents, a Geography story, “Going to the Moon” — we dived into a foundation of 2G life: Brain Gears!

After discussing the behaviors associated with each of the brain gears—

  • Out of Control

  • Too Hot

  • JUST RIGHT FOR LEARNING

  • Too Cool

  • Asleep

— students created their own Brain Gears charts.

Be sure to ask your student about Brain Gears!

THE JOYS OF SNACK AND SNACK BREAK!

If your name is Emily (one of our 2G Mentors), snack break might include getting your hair braided!

Healthy bodies, healthy minds!

MYTHS & FAIRY TALES

2G begins its study of myths and fairy tales with fairy tales!

Today, Ms. Cunningham, Lauren and Emily read 3 fairy tales to our 3 small groups (Red, Purple and Rust). All 3 groups got all 3 fairy tales!

  • Sleeping Beauty

  • Snow White & The Seven Dwarves

  • Hansel and Gretel

P.E. = PHYSICAL EDUCATION

After a family-style lunch, it was off to P.E. with Coach Pepper!

CATCH-UP, D.E.A.R. & THE TREE HOUSE!

After lunch, we finished up any Tree House News stories that needed finishing up.

We completed any Brain Gears charts that needed completing.

Students dived into D.E.A.R.

And—

We review the safety rule for the “tree house” and student visited it in groups of 3 and 4!

“The tree house is awesome!

Remarkably, ALL Tree House News stories are complete, as are all Brain Gears charts (now hanging in the 2G classroom window).

Stay tuned for e-publication of Tree House News, probably tomorrow.

Onwards!
