MAUI ocean center — BEHAVIOR CONTRACT

Dr. Cat signed this contract

As individual participants of the group, do agree to the following:

  • We will stay with our adult chaperones at all times – this includes inside the Maui Ocean Center aquarium, parking lot, Maui Ocean Treasures gift store and Reef Café.

  • We know we will be sharing the aquarium with other schools and visitors and will treat them with courtesy and respect.

  • We understand the aquarium is a place of learning.

  • We will not run, shout, climb on the exhibits, chew gum, eat or drink inside the aquarium buildings.

  • So everyone may continue to enjoy the exhibits, we will be gentle with all of the interactive exhibits by not slamming down on buttons, handles or knobs.

  • We will use books, clipboards or digital devices as writing surfaces. We will not write against or on walls, windows, or exhibits.

  • We will help protect all the marine life.

  • At Tide Pool and other invited areas, we will touch gently with two fingers when invited to and not frighten them, handle them harshly, remove them from the water, or tap on the aquarium tank windows.

  • If we have lunch, we will be careful of the wind and make sure all our rubbish ends up in the trash or recycle cans.

  • We will be mindful that plastic items can blow into our outdoor exhibits or into the nearby harbor and cause harm to the marine life and environment.

  • If we have questions, we will ask the Marine Naturalists wearing the blue shirts with name tags and listen to their answers.

  • We understand the entire group may be asked to leave if this Behavior Contract is not followed by any individual participant.
