• Sidebar squares: White terns — White terns do not make nests.
Instead, they find a suitable puka (indentation) on a branch, lay one egg, and protect that egg and chick until such time as the chick with its needle-sharp branch-clutching claws is safe alone!
White terns eat fish and squid!
• Sonia & Mark (top left) — Two of Anne’s D.O.J. colleagues in D.C.
Anne sent Sonia a haku lei — and look what happened!
• “Auntie Martha” — “Auntie Martha” is the Aeolian-Skinner organ at the Cathedral of St. Andrew.
Auntie… is prone to gaffes and is in dire need of restoration.
• Leohone — Leohone nobly stepped into both the choirmaster and organist roles while the search began for a permanent choirmaster, as well as a (separate) permanent organist.
• Summer Writing Workshop 2021 — Cat ran his second, COVID-inspired, Zoom-based writing workshop with current and former HNS students.
Students were globally-scattered from O’ahu to California to Colorado to Texas.
One student in Tokyo for the summer tried to join us, but the time-zone differences were too great!
• The “real” Anne Murphy — Anne is not the only Anne Murphy at D.O.J. The “real” Anne Murphy is a U.S. Marshal in Cleveland! (See photo below.)
The Annes became internet friends as their emails would sometimes go to the “wrong” Anne.
When US Marshal Anne’s sister (Katie) and her husband visited O’ahu, US Marshall Anne suggested we get together and do something COVID-safe like… hiking!
• The red arrow points to the REAL Anne Murphy, in Cleveland.
