• Sidebar squares: Auntie Martha’s guts! — A behind-the-scenes look at the workings of the cathedral’s Aeolian-Skinner pipe organ.
Anne did the back-stage tour more than once.
Mahalo nui loa to Mikey for the photos (and for the uppermost photo on the previous page).
• Weather — Have we had weather this year! OMG!
• North Shore — While the Pipeline and Sunset breaks pull in world-class surfers and surfer fans, there’s a quieter North Shore to the west.
As our friend Jack says, this is the “real North Shore” as it actually faces… north! Hiking above Dillingham Air Field is spectacular.
In addition to great views, the hiker can watch many a glider and parachutist waft earthwards.
• Jory Vinikour, harpsichordist — JV played LCH and… caused many a jaw to permanently drop.
This guy can make his harpsichord sound like a harp, a piano, an organ, a synthesizer, a kazoo.
OK, maybe not a kazoo, but… we’ve never witnessed a keyboardist like this dude! Breathtaking.
• Tom & Danielle — Tom (Anne’s youngest) and Danielle (our daughter-in-law) visited for Christmas.
• Gliding at Dillingham Airfield — Yes, you can hop in a glider, get towed up and up, and slowly glide back to earth. Quite the experience.
