July had us heading off to Alaska’s Wrangell St. Elias National Park for our third backcountry backpacking trek.
Jason “Chappy” Chapman, one of our guides on our first trek and trusted guide for this trip, suggested the rugged and spectacular Chugach Mountains at the south end of the park. (The park is bigger than Switzerland!)
We saw Joe again in Anchorage. We also saw a lot of wildlife, including arctic terns!
Then a small plane followed by an even smaller plane to McCarthy.
Then a bush plane into the moutains!
Our lives would be in Chappy’s hands!
