Poor little Macau!

Macau’s amazing veterinary diagnosticians discovered that his spleen was about to burst. He needed emergency surgery.

Of course, this happened a few days before we headed to Alaska!

Thankfully, the emergency vet clinic kept Macau for observation for the duration of our backpacking trip. We returned to a spleenless, cancer free Macau!

Sadly, Peter—Natalie of Barkhaus’ dad—who’d come to look after Macau during our absence only saw the pup when he was released upon our return. Macau was happy to see Peter!

Sugata & Sean got married! Sean sings in the cathedral choir with Anne. (Sean not only sings, but is a gifted choral composer too.)

Despite masking, Cat picked up COVID on the return trip.

He was unable to return to school at the end of July for much of teachers prep week, but was able to be in person for the start of school in early August.

We had another bumper avocado harvest in 2024!

Tony & Lilian brought their son, Kai, to O’ahu to be christened. Tony is a DOJ colleague; Lilian grew up in Hawaii Kai; both are long time friends. Kai’s sister Malia also came. Lilian’s parents and sister’s family, all of whom live on island, also attended.

Anne zipped off to Maui for a day to visit with Dixie. Formerly at the cathedral, Moki, Dixie’s husband, is now priest at Good Shepherd.

Anne did all her Christmas shopping with Dixie!
