Who’s Who on Page 33?

Ganesh Dosa in Kailua is to die for. While there, we met a Navy couple who had just arrived on O’ahu after a 3-year tour in Delhi. They said the dosa (Indian crepes) we were eating were authentic as well as delicious!

Rachel is a friend through the US Attorney’s Office here in Honolulu. And we share a child together. Lucky Macau can get snuggles from both his serial mothers at once.

Advent

The school opted this year to go with an “Advent Sing” rather than a pageant.

At first, when the song list was released — “Angels We Have Heard on High,” “O Come, O Come Emmanuel,” “We Wish You a Merry Christmas” and “The R.E.S.P.E.C.T. Song” — there was concern the “old English” was too much for students and the number of verses too many. Understandable as HNS doesn’t have a music teacher this year.

Cat made videos of the songs available and practiced with most of the grades and… the HNS students blew the roof off the church! Amazing. A photo of the whole school singing is with the Mele Kalikimaka panes.

Honolulu Marathon

Four folks from the HNS community ran the marathon.

Three of us — the three not wearing their medals (which everyone gets!) — learned later that Rev. Jenn had once tried out for the US Olympic marathon team! And while we were all OK with our times, Jenn blew us all away! : )

Start to Park 10K

Anne enjoyed running the 10K, from the marathon start to Kapi’olani Park.

She said it was great. You got the excitement of starting with 25,000+ other runners. You enjoyed the fabulous fireworks lighting up the pre-dawn sky, and you didn’t have to run out to Hawai’i Kai and back, or even run much at all as it was impossible in the crowd. Perfect!

Macau’s dew claw is better now.
